We are very pleased to offer knives made by John Doyle.
John has a discerning eye for asthetics & detail which is a critical requirement for making fine knives. The time & effort that he puts into each knife is evident when you look at his finished creation. It's clear that John has a passion for producing fine knives.
About The MakerJohn Doyle is a full time knife maker living with his family in Montana’s Bitterroot Valley. He has spent all of his life in the outdoors hunting, fishing, and camping. He knows how to use his knives and knows what to expect of them. He grew up having the importance of quality, fit, and finish presented to him constantly. His father is a custom cabinet and furniture maker and taught John to take pride in his work and make it the best quality he possibly could. This carries over today in John’s approach to knife making.
John has been making knives part time since he was about 17. He was mostly self-taught from what he could find in books. Then in 2007, he took some knife making classes at the Ozark Knife Makers shop in Ozark, Missouri. The classes were taught by Tom McGinnis. Tom got John on the right path to making a full time living as a knife maker. John learned solid fundamentals to build a career on. After returning to Montana, he decided to make the leap into full time knife making and invested in some better equipment. He continues to improve his skills with each knife he makes and is fortunate to have continuing help from a couple of ABS Mastersmiths near where he lives.
